A Global Conference, Built for Everyone

Course & Template Creation

I helped design Basecamp, a fully asynchronous event experience for Instructure’s 5,000+ global employees. With just a team of two, we created a dynamic, engaging space that brought learning and connection to life across time zones. Sessions were recorded and housed using Studio, making it easy for employees to engage, comment, and revisit content on demand. Completion badges were issued to celebrate participation, and the platform’s built-in analytics gave leadership meaningful insight into engagement.

With over 3,000 views across live and on-demand sessions, Basecamp became the most-attended internal event on record!

“It has been a pleasure working with Kimberly. She is amazing at what she does, and she does it all in a timely manner, very quick. She blows my mind every time and is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She gives great tips and is always so kind.”

Making New Hires Feel Like Part of the Team

Conference Guides, Slide deck design

To kick off the school year with energy and heart, I supported Santa Maria Joint Union High School District’s new hire experience with a full suite of custom event materials. Centered around the theme “Rocking Your Rookie Year at SMJUHSD!”, everything from signage and slide decks to lanyards and photo booth props carried the sports-inspired vibe.

Each new hire received a personalized “rookie card” featuring their photo and fun details—trading them with fellow teammates throughout the event. I also created all the social media graphics and messaging to introduce the new hires to the community, creating buzz and a strong sense of belonging. With coordinated food, decor, and design touches, the entire experience made new staff feel like MVPs from day one.

Pitching the Perfect Event

Conference Guides, Slide deck design

For Santa Maria Joint Union High School District’s annual symposium, I designed a full suite of custom event materials that brought the Basecamp theme to life. With a camping-inspired aesthetic, every piece—from the “Call for Presenters” form to the lanyards, buttons, and signage—was crafted to create a cohesive and memorable experience for hundreds of staff and educators.

Attendees collected themed buttons at each session, posed with photo booth props, and used a custom-designed Conference Guide to navigate the day. The thoughtful design details and playful touches helped foster a strong sense of connection and excitement. The event was a campfire-worthy gathering that sparked community and inspiration.
